Buddy and I made our traditional trips around the yard this morning and yes, it was/is cold. Mom made him a wonderful breakfast and he ate it all, pills included. The pussamacats also lovingly received their meals and fresh water and lots and lots of pets. I made some tea and settled in to a busy day of work that needed to be done on our Internet server. I informed the Missus that I didn’t want to be disturbed until the complicated work was done..and then everyone lost their marbles. Someone contacted me about problems they were having with their church website. The tech crew at the data center that houses our Internet server informed me that they could not update our server, they’d have to build a new one and migrate our data but they wouldn’t charge us for this. The company I used to work for sent me email asking me to “fill out these forms and get them back to us ASAP! We want to submit you for a possible position.”
I replied to the email. “What position, with whom?”
[no answer] Still having problems with their website. “What did you change? Try this…”
I sent email again. “What position is this for?”
[no answer] The FedEx man showed up with a delivery.
The Budster wanted to go outside again.
The man was still having problems with his website.
The office had not answered my question.
I filled out their paperwork and sent it to them and asked them again, “What position?”
[no answer] I gave the man some more pointers how he might resolve the situation with his website.
The office then said I needed to reply with my authorization for them to submit the papers.”
“What position? Submit to whom?”
[no answer] The data center notified me that the new server we purchased was ready. We did not purchase a new server!
The office nearly demanded that I reply with authorization for them to submit my paperwork for a possible position.
“Fine! You are authorized! What position?”
The man is still having problems with his website so I logged in to the server, had a look around and fixed it for him. They at one time had a “web guru” set things up for them. The word “set” in this case is interchangeable with the word “messed”.
My old office finally responded with vague description about the “possible position” that “might” take two to three months to materialize if it ever did but neglected to say who the position was/maybe/might be with. I have an idea of the company but it’s a huge company with lots of divisions (business units) and a zillion managers. Fine, we’ll see how it goes.

Hours later, I still hadn’t gotten anything done that I set out to do in the first place.
Meanwhile the Budster is sleeping peacefully, the pussamacats are pussamacatting and the Missus is avoiding eye contact because she knows how I get when the stupid is flowing.

The church’s website is operational. The old office has their mystery paperwork for a mystery job. I am NOT paying for that new server. And I did not accomplish one single thing I set out to do this morning.

Time to love on the dog, pet a cat and leave my phone turned off.

Let’s examine this fiasco, shall we? Who in this picture had a “normal day?” Rather, whose “normal day” is the kind of day that we would all want?  Yeah, the critters. Their focus is simple. They don’t ask for much and give tons in return. People on the other hand, are high maintenance creatures fret over things that don’t matter in the overall scheme of life.

Our priorities are all messed up.

Luke 12:22-31

22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
25 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
26 If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?
27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Tell me again why I should allow crazies to ruin my day.

I shouldn’t and neither should you.

Pet a cat. Pet a dog. Have some tea and enjoy the sunrise, sunset, fresh air and anything else that God sends your way but don’t don’t don’t let the crazies get you down.
