Pearls and Pigs

I took the day off and slept in today. It was yummy! Somewhere during my extended rest the Duchess climbed into bed to snuggle. She’s a big snuggle and she doesn’t know how big she really is but snuggle we did. After petting her for some time, I wrapped my arm around her and dozed back off to the rise and fall of her breathing. We exchanged pearls. I gave, she gave and we were both blessed. Later, I rolled over and found myself face to face with a smiling Budster, his tail wagging.

“You want to go outside?”
[WOOF!] (That means, yes)
We did, he did, the Duchess did and everyone was happy. Mumford couldn’t wait until we got to the door so she did on the piddle pad and we were happy about that too.

Later, the Missus got up and shared her pearls. She feeds the masses with a glory that only she possesses and the masses are blessed.

Everyone in the family is sharing pearls today and life is good.

We only so many pearls so we have to be careful not to waste any.

I have been teaching emergency preparedness and survival techniques for nearly four decades. I am either an old fart or I started early. Take your pick. While teaching others what I have learned, they teach me as well. Most of the time they teach me not to bother. People don’t usually ask questions because they want to learn. They are looking for an opportunity to prove that your answer will be wrong. They are looking for a target. I have been wrong about so much for so long that I rarely if ever pass along information. That way, people don’t have to bother telling me I am wrong. Run along. Best of luck to you. [waving]

My breakfast this morning cost twenty cents. It was easy to make, it filled me up and it was healthy. Do you think I will tell others what I ate and how I prepared it? NOPE! There would be a long line of people waiting to tell “that’s not how…” and “you can’t eat that” and “what you should have done is…” and I don’t need it. No, it wasn’t oatmeal or cereal or anything similar. It was a nice, hot breakfast on a real plate. I know how to make a meager food storage stretch from here to the moon and back because I have been practicing and experimenting with such things every single day for decades and according to most people, I have been wrong wrong wrong. Don’t care. Go away.

I have learned by doing things that most people would never think to try. I have learned what you can and can’t do, what you should and should never do. For example, you should never bake pinto beans, grind them and try to use them like coffee or tea. [shaking head] Don’t do it. But I do know several ways to use those nutritious ground beans to feed my family. Do you? I can feed two people with nothing more than a handful of dried corn and just by me saying that some people are already thinking, “That corn is GMO!” or “That’s not nutritious,” or “You’d be better off with…” and I don’t want to hear it so I typically keep my pearls to myself. I have learned by listening and when I determine that I am the target of a critical spirit, I walk away.

Matthew 7:6
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

Right now, someone reading this is frothing to ask, “Are you calling people swine?” If that someone is you and you decide to comment accordingly, you will prove my point to everyone else who is reading so be careful with that. Keep your fire to yourself. Examine your heart before engaging your mouth and see what spirit you are of.

Luke 9:51-56
Rejection in Samaria

51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, 52 And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. 53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. 54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? 55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. 56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

Jesus made a stop on His journey and because He was not accepted, He chose not to cast that which is holy to the dogs. He didn’t cast His pearls before swine. He went to another village where His message would be accepted. Another lesson to be learned from that passage is to be careful what spirit you are of. Wishing ill upon those who reject your message is definitely from the wrong side of the pearly gates. There’s that word again. Pearls.

We have walked away from churches, from friends and even some family members because they trampled our pearls under their feet and then came after us. Walking away is always painful but our choices are limited, aren’t they?

If someone still feels compelled to accuse me of calling people swine, I will answer in this manner. If you think I am talking about real pearls, then they are real swine and so are you. 🙂

Go pet something fuzzy. Give them a pearl. Remember to only hand those out to those who are worthy. Oh yeah, and make sure you are worthy to receive the pearls that others offer.
